Cheerio to Paul (a.k.a. David) who spent his last evening eating at Calypso. See you again in September!
Elizabeth made a welcome return but only for a couple of nights. Too bad, Betty, you got a manic, busy steak night!

Well, Vic, here she is. What do you think? Molly was helping Diane celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately the others buggered off before I could blog them.
Little elephants
Marcus & Caroline are in the area again continuing their scientific expedition to find the pigmy elephants of Crete. It's a long story but Marcus believes they were "this close" to seeing one today!
Welcome home.
Welcome back Phil. And look....he bought Bethan, his daughter with him. Calypso customers will fondly remember Bethan from 3 years ago when she was our waitress for the season.
Phew, what a scorcher! Pat, Gary, Anne, Jeff, Terry & Kath after a spicy 'Ruby Murray' on spice night.

Local author and bon vivant Sam celebtrated his birthday the other night. He was joined by Norma & her friends as well as Duke, Jeff & Gary . Many happy Returns!
Poor old Norma the babysitter is not having much luck with her new torch from e-Bay. Even technophiles Duke & Jeff are baffled. Chuck it away & let the moon light you path and the stars guide you way.

Keith & B float in!
My old muckers Keith & B flew in for the night - well they came by the Samaria ferry! They have been staying further along the coast but we persuaded them to spend a night with us - helps us repay the hospitality they showed us in England and it's always great to see them.
If you are looking at the blog, Vic, this is Molly who was a little shy at revealing her new hairstyle to you. She says I can take a proper photo when she has had a chance to 'doll herself up a bit'

Motorcycle madness
Jorgos (centre) and comrades from "Hells Angels, Rethymnon Chapter" screamed round the corner for lunch. They visit once or twice a year on a grand tour of the West of the Island.

A Slow Lunchtime
As we are having a slow lunch service, I thought I would post todays specials & a view of the side of the restaurant. The vine is very handsome at the moment with lots of grapes starting to appear.

Diane, the Paleochora representative for Kosmar, popped in for a meal the other night. That is NOT a ciggie in her hand, OK?!
Calypso Burger King!
The first official Burger King of the season. To attain this lofty title one has to demolish a Calypso Burger and all of the fries without any help from friends, relations or any passing animals. Mark here not only did that but finished his mother in law's Calypso Burger too.
Respect!

Monday Night
From the top - The Over The Hill Club were in. So called because the walk over hills and .well, the are all over the hill! They are on their 'Priceless Tour of Crete' named after a member called Price who was to come on the tour but died earlier this year!
Bob Tait was out on the town (Lynne was in Loutro) with friend Peter (see previous post). He behaved himself while he was here, Lynne!
A sad farewell (until September) to Mark & Viv. Last year they stepped in when we had a staff crisis and became waiter & waitress fro the night. This year the took it easy as customers. They look especially relaxed here as they had spent the afternoon helping the new waitress at the beach bar perfect her cocktails. 1st rule of cocktail making - you have to drink your mistakes!

Lots of old friends
Last night we were fortunate to see many valued customers from previous years. In fact 7 tables were 'regulars'. Here are some of them. Looks a bit like Police 5!
Here we have David, Diana, Lynda & Alan
John & Liz enjoying the music.
Peter on the left with Rosie & Stan (who last year managed to demolish a whole Calypso Burger - recognition at last, eh Stan?)

And here is the lamb kleftiko ready for the oven where it will slow cook all afternoon.
Here's Stavros, the former mayor, who is the expert in the village on fridges, fixing our big fridge.
