Bobbing Along

And then, he was off to Anidri beach. Er, Bob, you're going backwards, mate.

Q: Why is makng love in a canoe similar to Amstel Beer?

If you don't know the answer to that question, you will have to see me as I can't print the answer on a family Blogsite! The long awaited launch of Bob's canoe (I can't spell kayak) took place this afternoon. Could it be that it was always too windy before or was Bob too wimpy. Anyway, Helen
Mirren was stuck in traffic so we got our own Queen, Carol Vardolakis (Poppy) to officially name the boat (ship?) "Paleochora Sunrise" with a bottle of Amstel.

Then there was a lot of huffing, and not a small amount of puffing as Bob inflated some rather bizarre boyancy aids (well that's his story but you know what sailors are like....) and off he went.............see next entry.

Invasion of the Bee-eaters

Something wonderful happened near our house the other night. We heard and then saw several bee-eaters flying around the garden and neighbouring fields. Bee-eaters are (along with maybe kingfishers) the most beautiful and colourful European bird. There were tens of them flying around, hunting and sitting on telegraph wires. Truly magical.

Turkish Invasion

Thre was a general sense of unease in the town the other day when a Turkish frigate and a Turkish minesweeper (pictured) anchored a couple of hundred metres offshore! They were accompanied by a Greek minesweeper and a German navy vessel and it turns out was part of a NATO exercise

Mark & Viv return

Mark & Viv, last seen in May suffering from an over-enthusiastic cocktail tasting afternoon, are here on holiday for another week. Mark is "all girled out" this time with (clockwise from front) Jordan, Hannah, Abi and Nila. Friend, Abi is making her first visit to "Chillout Central" Paleochora. We hope she will become a regular too.
